Security Planning & Design

Bring security into the building design early.

We help architects and engineering consultancies turn the client’s security needs into a clear brief, workable design requirements and useful specifications. The aim is a security arrangement that fits the building, its people and the way it will operate.

Discuss planning and design

Start with the building in use

Define the outcome.
Coordinate the detail.

Camera positions and door readers are only part of the design. The brief needs to explain what the systems should achieve and how they fit into the wider project.

Access & movement

Define how staff, visitors, deliveries and contractors move through the building, which areas need protection and how access should change through the day.

CCTV & recorded evidence

Set coverage objectives, the evidence the client needs, recording and retention requirements, and the operational purpose of each surveillance area.

System architecture

Plan access control, intercoms, recording, networks, power and resilience together, with capacity assumptions and key dependencies made clear.

Building coordination

Identify interfaces with doors, hardware, lifts, reception, IT and building services. Record the required operation and who needs to resolve each design question.

Outputs your team can use

A clearer basis
for design and procurement.

The deliverable set follows the project stage. A concept brief, a review of an existing layout and a detailed design package have different information and coordination needs.

We agree the drawing inputs, deliverables, revision allowance and review points before work starts.

  1. 01
    Security design brief

Agreed operating needs, protected assets, access principles, relevant requirements and security objectives.

  2. 02
    Plans and design markups

Access zones, coverage objectives and security arrangements coordinated against the available architectural plans.

  3. 03
    Schedules and specifications

Equipment and interface schedules, performance requirements and key capacity assumptions within the agreed design scope.

  4. 04
    Coordination record

Dependencies, open decisions and responsibilities for the design team and appointed specialists.

Working within your design team

Security requirements
that connect to the drawing set.

Our briefs, markups and specifications provide security input for your team’s coordinated design documents.

Drawing formats, detailed CAD or Revit production and any specialist approvals are confirmed separately in the proposal. Necessary site checks are carried out by appointed local specialists.

Specifications are product neutral where practical, with relevant supplier and referral relationships disclosed. Applicable Australian Standards and local project requirements are identified in the brief.

Carry the brief through tender and handover

Already have a design?

Start with a Security Design Review.

An independent review can identify missing requirements and coordination issues in the plans you already have. You receive design markups, clear findings and prioritised next steps.
